Picnic in the backyard

Published by tansuma under family, outing

Des said, “It is Sunny, let’s eat out”. I said, “Okay”… then he started to move the table, chairs, bowls, glasses to the backyard.  And, yes…we are eating out, just not the same definition of “out”.

saturday brunch

Published by tansuma under cook/bake

saturday-brunch.jpg

I found this recipe in one of the “parenting” magazines that I subscribe. I have mean meaning to bake this since my sister, Elina, was here (remember, Cia?). But, I just forgetting till we moved to new place and slowly unpack that I found them again. It is a god recipe for a Sunny Saturday/Sunday brunch like yesterday.

The recipe (make 12 servings):

4 cups cubed toasted whole wheat bread
    1 cup grated cheese
1/2 cup roughly chopped baby spinach
    1/2 cup bacon
    4-5 eggs
    1 3/4 cups milk
    1 tsp coarse salt
    1 tsp Dijon mustard
1/4 tsp freshly ground black pepper

      How to:

      1. Toss bread, cheese, spinach and bacon together in a bowl. Divide evenly between 12 greased muffin cups.
      2. In a bowl, whisk remaining ingredients together. Pour egg mixture evenly over bread. Cover with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 2 hours or overnight.
      3. Bake in a 350°F oven for 20-25 minutes or until set. Let cool 5 minutes before removing muffins.

      Long overdue dinner date

Finally, we were able to use the gift cert. from Len and Maho. Des was really excited being able to have dinner without the kids. On the other hand, I felt guilty leaving the kids and my mom at home. I almost told Desmon to cancel the reservation.. luckily, I didn’t. I love the restaurant. Its location is a bit out-of-place but the ambient is realy nice not to mention the food. They were spectacular. Des and I talked for quite long enjoying our dinner date till my body told me I gotta go (feeding Adelia). ^_^

      my first truffles – finally

      Published by tansuma under cook/bake

A week ago, I came across this recipe on the Internet and it was really easy to make.

The recipe (make about 25-30 truffles):

      1 pkg. OREO Cookies
1 pkg. PHILADELPHIA Cream Cheese, room temperature
2 pkg. white chocolate and dark chocolate

      How to:

      1. Put the OREO cookies in the food processor (remove half of the OREO fillings-I found it too sweet if not) till “dirt” like.
      2. MIX the cream cheese and the OREO crumbs until well blended. Shape into balls.
      3. REFRIGERATE for 1 hours until firm.
      4. DIP balls in melted chocolate; place on waxed paper-covered baking sheet.
      5. REFRIGERATE 1 hour or until firm. Store any leftover truffles in tightly covered container in refrigerator.

      V-Day 09

      Published by tansuma under family

Went to the Richmond Olympic Oval to attend the Winter Festival. It was an awesome way to spend V-day. The Cheungs, Lims, Fongs and Gothams were there too. The rink was open to public, with free rental. I persuaded my mom to try…and she agred! I must say, I am really proud of her. She did one round, YEAH! The Lims invited us to their place for tea time which led to dinner time ^_^

Love that they allow strollers on the ice!

      Dream actually comes true

      Published by tansuma under thoughts

With the economy recession, Elisa has been happy go lucky singing our parent or even our grandparent era song  “na si wo woo ji pa ban” (translates if i have one million dollar) since Friday morning – literally non-stop. I am not sure which currency she is wishing in. If in Indonesian rupiah, that is worth CAD$100. So hopefully, not that currency.

Guess who’s dream come true on Valentine day?  We were touring the Richmond Olympics Oval, a speed skating venue for Vancouver 2010 Winter Olympics, and out of no where a magician wanna-be, handed Viola a clean and crispy bill worth ONE MILLION DOLLAR. Fresh off the printer. hahaha.

Elisa should start buying lottery tickets. And, know what, 649 draw for this Wed Feb 18 is estimated $39,000,000. I definitely can endure the song for few more days to have a legitimate shot at the pot. Please sing my dear but change the “jipaban” to “sacengkauban”
