my guilty pleasure

Published by tansuma under thoughts

Some of you might know that I am not a big reader-kinda person, but I do try to read every now and then.  However, ever since I have Viola, it just seems harder to pick up a book without tossing it aside after 5-10 minutes. So, I gave up.

That change when one day I was lining up at the local library to check-out Desmon’s books, I saw a teenage girl held a comic book. In that moment, I felt a sense of familiarization that has been lost for a while inside me. It had been at least 10 years since my last comic book. Without hesitation, I approached the teenager and asked her where could I get the comic book… for sure, she pointed to the TEEN section. Anyway, I headed there while holding Viola (funny feeling, actually…I feel like a teenager again but with a toddler) and picked up 5-6 comic books. I was impressed on how fast I could indulge those comic books in one night.

I have found my guilty pleasure again~

Carolyn organized another great get-together at the Maplewood farm. We went there before with Er-er, Viols’s 3rd aunt. Viola seeme to enjoy this time around more since she was able to chase the chicks and the ducks and be free in expressing her vocabularies. She said something that really amazed me “Sung su” she said and kept on repeating it….I wasn’t sure what she meant until I saw what she was pointing at, a squirrel. Wow…she just said squirrel in Chinese. WOW!!!! Way to go!! I was really really impressed with her.

Viola’s God-Father just came back from Scotland for a business trip and he got her “Kayleigh”, a beautiful Scottish doll. I had been wanting to buy her a small girl-y doll but was reluctant since she has lots of stuff toys already. Viola loves the doll, especially the hair. Thanks, Len!!!

way belated birthday

Published by tansuma under viola

This year, apparently with the hectic of raising Viola, we somehow forgot to wish Viola’s “Nai-nai” a happy birthday even though I do store the birth date in my cell. Anyway, Des, Viola and I decided to get a birthday cake for the Nai-nai and kinda celebrate the belated birthday. She was very surprised and was happy that Viola gave her a big kiss….aw!!!

Half day out with Carolyn and Serene

Published by tansuma under outing

Carolyn planned this fun half day out for the kids, Serene and I. The weather in the morning was realy bad, raining and cold… but as soon as we finished our lunch, the Sun was peeking through. Yeah!

I dropped my MIL at her friend’s place and off Viola and I to PNE to meet Carolyn, Jack, Serene, Lucas and baby Linus.  Viola was really thrilled to see all the rides and colours, well especially her buddies, Lucas and Jack-Jack. I had a great time. Carolyn was so great in planning that she even had 3 bottles of smoothies for the kiddos…and mini cinnamon buns for the mamas. I really feel bad for not preparing anything. Shame on me.

This morning, Viola was “assisting” me in typing my email and my msn to my friends and my sister.  Dear! Don’t know what she click, suddenly, my screen became this 90 degree angle. I panicked since it was hard for me to read my screen, and having hard time navigate it. Luckily my sister was online, and she helped me solved this silly thing… by pressing “ctrl+alt+ and arrow”keys.*sigh

picnic after Des’ work

We picked Des up around 6pm and headed to English Bay. Somehow, while talking to his mom, Desmon took a wrong turn and we ended up at the 2nd beach, again. I guess he realy likes that place. Anyway, we found a nice spot beside the  pool and had our picnic. Our next table was 7-10 men drumming away. It was great, and one of the guys aproached Viola and invited her to drum too. It was a lovely dinner with the perfect scenery and music (the surprised element of the evening).

Arrived at the 2nd beach pool at around 10:30am and got a very nice parking spot. Yeah! Viola was so excited as soon as she spotted the beach, playground and pool. The dads (Rob, Desmon and Edwin) took the kids to the pool except Linus of course. The moms just chatted and enjoyed the weather. We had a picnic there as well. It was fun. Without realizing, it was 5pm already! Woo-hoo…a day well spent……..and then Des said “we gotta go”!

I totally forgot that we were going to another get-together at Des’ coworker’s house for “Hawaiian” theme party. Luckily Viola had her long nap.  I am surprised how she actually could have so much energy and last till 9pm at the party without a single complaints. Bravo kiddo!

2 hours play time!

Published by tansuma under viola

Serene and I need to let the kids run around and basically exhaust themselves so we went to jungle gym. It was nice and surprisingly clean and neat.  Viola had a great time until a little girl wanted to push the car she was riding on and Viola got mad and since then, was clinging to me. Despite that, I think she had a great time and so did I. Viola had a good long nap in the afternoon. Thanks Serene!
