Finally, an entry all for myself. Let me introduce myself. My name is “ta-ta”, I belong to a baby girl name Adelia aka En-en. I was given to En by Len, KK’s Godfather when she was just born. Since then, we have never been apart. You asked me what “ta-ta” means? No clue! The name was from Lucas who owns one three himself.
Being dragged, spanked, pulled, kissed, rubbed, smelt, washed, dried and timed out…it is not easy being a security blanket I must say. Realize how tough my job is as a security blanket, En’s mom feels the need to get a double for me in case I was being washed or lost for that matter. They got her a pink one, although she looks newer and leaner, En still loves me more! See how she chose me????
When I knew I would have a daughter, I thought tom myself definitely, she wouldn’t be those pink-pink/ girl-ly kinda girl. But after having 2 girls who love pink, it is inevitable for me to avoid that. And, as a parent, I would hate to see if I hinder their creativity to express themselves just because I don’t want them to like princesses’ things.
This week has been a big week for Adelia (fighting jetlag, weaning off, and changing to a big girl bed). Bravo!
We or rather I had been waiting so patiently, 4 months to be exact, for this particular daybed for Adelia’s room. I was almost persuaded by Des to just forget about it and get another kind- bunk bed or trundle bed. Luckily, my wait had paid off thanks to my stubbornness.
We got the bed the day after we arrived after our 2 months vacation. What a timing! I just hope Adelia loves the bed as much as I do.
Aware that she is my last baby, I would love to breastfeed as long as I could. However, after the 2 months trip back in Asia visiting our families, it doesn’t seem visible. She was so attached to the idea of breastfeeding. She would play and out-of-the-blue, she would come looking for it. Not fun!
Even my families notice the habit was getting worse. She became this clingy and whiny baby when she demanded her meal ticket.
As soon as we landed back home, I have cut her cold. Seeing how she suffered makes me wonders whether i had made the right decision on breastfeeding this long.
Oh well! After breastfeeding for exactly 20 months, it is time to wean over.
Among all her friends, Viola spends more time with Lucas, so it is just natural for her to feel that everything she does, Lucas is part of it.
She even requested Des to draw Lucas, not only that, they have to be holding hands… aw!
On the side note, Adelia has been playing with shoes a lot, especially those are not hers.
We were having dinner at home with Linda when Adelia decided to throw her food on the floor. I scolded her for being naughty and sure enough, she squeezed her crocodile tears and leaned her head onto Des’ arm. We ignored her.
Suddenly,
Viola: “妈, 你作 En-en 生氣。 你要say sorry” ["Ma, you make Adelia upset. Say sorry to her Ma!"]
Me: “……………..” (chocked on my chicken rice)
Linda: (trying her best not to laugh)
Des: (shocked his head and grinned)
We, or rather I, have been thinking of taking the kids back to Asia for months just to spend time with families and let them get to know their relatives. Just the thought of taking 2 toddlers in a long haul plane ride is not making Des’ decision on going back easier. Thus, I suggested how about I, yes I, myself bring the kids back this Summer? He said NO right away but after he gave it a week thought, he gave me the nod and I started to freak out. Ha ha ha. Anyway, we haven’t confirmed anything yet. So, to be safe, I thought I would make sure their travel documents are ready when I am.
I took the kids to local Costco for passport photos. It took literally 5 seconds for Viola’s photos to be taken. When Adelia’s turn, she just refused to close her mouth. *sigh and after a long painful 10 minutes, the photographer and I just gave up. I wonder whether I would have any luck in any other photo studio.
After asking around, Elly cie told me to try a studio in a Chinese Mall. As soon as we got there, my friend, Tetty, put a piece of small cookie in Adelia’s mouth, placed her down, and photos were taken. DONE! WOW!
Photo done at Costco. $6.99 for 2 photos
Photo done at random Chinese photo studio. $13 for 4 photos
Viola is very into exercising recently, she would open up books where children are shown in varieties of poses for stretching and she would try to mimic the movements. For sure, as a younger sibling, Adelia finds the need to follow her older sister.
Now, she even removes her hand, and uses only her head as support. Crazy kiddo!
